Privacy

This describes what we actually collect, not what a template says we might. Where something is unfinished, it says so. If anything here turns out to be wrong, email us and we will correct it and tell you what changed.

Who is responsible

Writers With AI is run by Josep Portell, based in Catalonia, Spain. That makes him the data controller for everything below. Contact: hello@writerswithai.com — a real, monitored mailbox, not a form that goes nowhere. A postal address is available on request.

What we collect, and why

If you join a waitlist

We store your email address, which list you joined, the page you signed up from, and the date. Nothing else — no name, no tracking pixel in the emails you get, no profile built from your behaviour. The legal basis is your consent, given when you submit the form, and you can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send or by emailing us.

We record which list you joined because it is the entire point: it tells us which products people actually want, so we build those and not others.

If you create an account

We store your email address and an encrypted form of your password so you can sign in. The legal basis is performance of a contract — we cannot give you an account without it.

If you use the writing tools

The text you submit for analysis is sent to a language-model provider to be analysed, and the analysis it returns is stored against your account so you can come back to it. Your text is not used to train any AI model — the provider's API terms exclude API inputs and outputs from training, and we run no training or fine-tuning of our own on anything you submit. We do not read your text, share it, or use it in marketing. The legal basis is performance of a contract.

If you just visit

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages get read. It sets cookies and records a truncated version of your IP address, the pages you view, and rough location and device information.

Being straight with you about this one: Google Analytics currently loads on every page without asking you first. It should ask, and we are adding that control before we drive any real traffic here. Until then you can block it with any content blocker, with Google's official opt-out add-on, or by refusing cookies in your browser settings. Nothing on this site breaks if you do.

Who else processes your data

We keep this list short deliberately. Every name here is a company that can see some part of your data because it runs part of the service.

Transfers to the USA rely on those providers' standard contractual clauses and, where applicable, their certification under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. We sell your data to nobody, ever, and there is no advertising network on this site.

How long we keep it

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask us to:

One email to hello@writerswithai.com is enough for any of these. No form, no reason needed. We will act within 30 days and normally much sooner. If we get it wrong you can complain to the Spanish data protection authority, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, or to the authority where you live.

Study participants

If you take part in one of our research studies — such as the voice preservation study — you receive a separate, stronger written commitment covering your manuscript before you share anything. It is more protective than this page, and where the two differ, that one governs for your study material.

Changes

When this page changes materially we update the date at the top. If a change affects something you have already consented to, we ask you again rather than quietly reinterpreting the old consent.
